Located in the center of the face, nose is a facial region that draws attention at first glance and is very open to congenital traumas or those which develop later on due to its shape. This being the case, deformities are frequently encountered in the nose area and such deformities quietly affect the appearance of the face. For these reasons, the most common plastic surgery performed worldwide is the rhinoplasty (plastic nose surgery).
Rhinoplasty is a constantly evolving procedure that improves the overall aesthetic appearance of the face by thinning the shape and contour of the nose. The aim of this procedure is to obtain a natural-looking nose that suits your face to the extent permitted by the anatomical structures.
A natural and beautiful nose is a nose that allows for drawing attention to the eyes and lips at first glance. Therefore, rhinoplasty highlights the important beauty features such as your eyes and lips and glamourizes the whole expression of your face.
Repair of Deformities by Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty serves both to reduce the size of a large nose and repair unwanted nasal features such as nasal hump, nasal curvature, wide nasal tip, low nasal tip, wide nasal wing, etc. and thus, the nose is restored to a natural appearance.
Even though many consider rhinoplasty as a plastic surgery, this is also a functional operation. In most of the noses with deformities, there are also functional problems such as Deviated Nasal Septum, Concha Hypertrophy, Concha Bullosa, etc. Therefore, the presence of such problems should be carefully checked before rhinoplasty, and such problems should be eliminated by the surgeon during the operation.
Would you like to improve your appearance and have a healthy breath and self-confidence?
If you consider undergoing rhinoplasty, you would probably want to learn about how the surgery is performed, what processes you will go through, and how your appearance and health will improve. During the examination, Dr. Ali Kavuzlu assesses your nose both functionally and aesthetically. He takes the photos of your nose, discusses with you the appearance of your nose through the photos, and explain what can be done. Thus, our patients set a realistic expectation before surgery.
To achieve a successful result in rhinoplasty, it is important to have a good fit between the patient and the surgeon. Before surgery, many of our patients suffer from pre-surgery anxiety, which is a very normal situation. What relieves this anxiety is a trust relationship based on realistic expectations and medical expertise that would be established between the doctor and the patient. As an Otolaryngologists and Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Ali Kavuzlu would use all his surgical skills and knowledge to achieve the best result in surgery. He would also answer all your questions before and after the surgery.
The rhinoplasty procedure starts with the evaluation of such examinations as preoperative blood tests, ECG, chest radiography, etc. In case that other pathologies are suspected in the nose, a Nasal and Paranasal Sinus Tomography is taken for further evaluation. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. In the majority of cases, I perform the surgery using open technique. The operation takes 2 to 3 hours on average. Our patients are usually discharged on the same day. During surgery, the channel silicone tampons that allow breathing are used. These tampons are taken out within 3-4 days at the earliest. The sutures and the plaster cast are removed in the first week whereas the nose is protected with a splint in the next 4 to 5 days. A check-up is scheduled at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. The subsequent checks are made on an annual basis.
